When we were planning to go to Purulia, I was very disappointed to see that there is no blog or video (Purulia tour guide) on the internet yet to give an accurate idea about Purulia.  Even when booking the hotel I was very confused about where to take the hotel.  That's why I thought of writing this blog. Hope  you will find the answers to all your questions about Purulia in this blog series.

How to reach Purulia:

First of all, let's talk about the train. I will not make the blog long by talking more about this.  However, if you search this website www.indiarailinfo.com , you will get all the informations about trains available, train time table, fare chart and from which platform the train will depart.  

We went on Howrah-Chakradharpur passenger, sleeper coach fare from Howrah to Purulia was only 140 rupees.  But, if you buy tickets online, you will have to pay some extra charges.  Purulia is also connected to Kolkata by road.  You can easily reach with your own vehicle Whether it is two-wheeler or four-wheeler, the nearest airport is Kolkata's Netaji Subhash Airport.  From there you have to take a car, or a train from Howrah - Purulia Tour guide.

Best Season to visit Purulia:

Then come, what is the Best Season to visit Purulia.  Excluding Summer, you can go to Purulia all year round.  But the best time is three.  

The first one is when winter is bidding farewell and summer is approaching.  English Mid-February to Mid-March.  At this time Purulia became Full of Palash Flower.  As you go along, you will see only palash trees along the way and you will be fascinated by this red color.  But not only Palash.  Many more species of flowers you will see along the way.

Another time is the rainy season i.e. July-August. During this time another form of fountains can be seen as the water level rises.  Besides, the dark green color of the forest during the rainy season is also a special attraction.  

And another one is in winter i.e. from 25th December to the end of January.  At this time you can feel the chill weather of Purulia.  You will see the fog hiding.  At this time many people gather in Purulia for picnic also.

Hotels in Purulia:

Purulia tour guide -Then let's talk about food and Hotels in Purulia.  First of all, don't compare Purulia with Darjeeling, Digha or any other well developed tourist spots. Purulia has not yet got that touch of modernity.  So you may not find food everywhere you like, but the natural beauty you see is absolutely pure.  Along the way you will find many Dhaba style hotels and in the main centers of the city you will find all kinds of Chinese, Punjabi, etc dishes. I will suggest you to carry dry foods with you because the hotels available are in far distances.  

Purulia Youth Hostel

During the tour we stayed at Purulia and Joychandi Pahar Youth Hostel respectively.  There are canteens in both places.  And I will also recommend you to stay at the youth hostel.  As I have been there myself.  Although the youth hostels are of medium quality as a place to stay.  But worth for money.  And the locations are pretty good too.  You can book rooms of the youth hostels from this website- www.youthhostelbooking.wb.gov.in.  Or you can contact the Moulali Youth Hostel office in Kolkata.  

Joychandi Pahar Youth Hostel

Besides, 'Niharika' of 'Irrigation department of West Bengal' in Ayodhya hills is a good option.  You will get booking information on Google.  We are only stayed in youth hostels so I am not taking the name of any hotel or resort unnecessarily without knowing it.  However, at present there are many hotels and resorts in Purulia.  There is no doubt about that.  You just have to book it with good research.

One important thing to keep in mind here is that if you have a three-day trip, book a hotel for two days. At the last day check out the hotel in the morning and carry your luggage in the car and tell your driver to drop you at the station by the evening. Board night train from Purulia / Adra station and reach Howrah by early morning.  This can save you one day hotel rent.
